You Are The Actor or Actress Of Your Own Story

You Are The Actor or Actress Of Your Own Story

You Are The Actor or Actress Of Your Own Story!

Many thinkers and writers, both past and present, have described human beings in this world as actors and actresses on a big stage, this life, to one great play. Ask yourself, what role are you playing? Who’s writing your script? Are you acting out your own story? Or are you simply going through the motions in someone else’s play?

We each have a set of ideas or beliefs about ourselves that define us as a central character in a “story” that we’re living out. All story elements have been passed down as part of our culture or upbringing, taught or ingrained, or fabricated in our minds. We then go about enacting our stories as if they were true.

The thing is, most of us don’t even realize that we’re enacting a story, much less someone else’s story. Because of this, we’re entirely at the mercy of the story and its writer, how it unfolds, how we react to certain events, and the eventual course our life takes.

Your Mediocre Mind

Your Mediocre Mind

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. ~ A. Einstein

I've always had a love affair with that particular quote. While doing some organizing, I came across my favorite quote again. As I looked at it, a higher level of awareness sang out a deeper meaning than I'd ever recognized in the past.

You recognize that deep inner desire, don't you? Its greatness is specific to you and your desires; mine is clear to me. Realizing we are spiritual beings, we each have a Great Spirit within us, crying out for a well-lived life without fear, without compromise, without limitation. Initially, our spirit is constantly battling opposition from the opinions of others, media, peer pressure, and family obligations. Then I realized that there is more.

Life Mapping: A Vision of Success

Life Mapping: A Vision of Success

Success is more than economic gains, titles, and degrees. Planning for success is about mapping out all the aspects of your life. Like a map, you need to define the following details: origin, destination, vehicle, backpack, landmarks, and route.

Origin: Who you are

A map has a starting point. Your origin is who you are right now. When asked to introduce themselves, most people would say, Hi, I'm Jean, and I am a 17-year old senior high school student. It does not tell you who Jean is; it only tells you her present preoccupation. To gain insights about yourself, you need to look closely at your beliefs, values, and principles aside from your economic, professional, cultural, and civil status.

Moreover, you can also reflect on your experiences to give you insights into your good and not-so-good traits, skills, knowledge, strengths, and weaknesses. Jean realized that she was highly motivated, generous, service-oriented, but impatient upon introspection. Her inclination was in the biological-medical field. Furthermore, she believed that life must serve a purpose and that wars were destructive to human dignity.
